Job Duties:

  • Provide technical support at all of Jackson Family Wine’s Skylane Facilities as required.
  • From time to time, oversee work and train lesser skilled mechanics.  Assist management in guiding maintenance team on refrigeration and utilities while promoting best practices and industry standards.
  • Conduct daily rounds on multiple equipment areas, monitor live Ammonia systems and Plant air, and perform preventative maintenance of HVAC systems and components, glycol systems, and compressors.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, wine barrel lines, electrical systems, and controls.
  • Utilize CMMS to maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and machinery, and document all work and parts use.
  • Maintain and repair buildings and associated equipment systems including general carpentry, painting, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC equipment, water treatment, process wastewater and stormwater systems, electrical systems, etc.
  • Daily completion of all administration related to maintenance assignments and functions.
  • Conduct storm water monthly inspections for dry seasons, wet seasons, and storm water samples as directed by the senior facility and maintenance manager.
  • Assist with annual cycle counts and maintaining parts inventories.
  • Maintain all safety equipment including fire safety systems.
  • You will also replace and repair defective machine parts, troubleshoot equipment, and navigate HMIs to diagnose error codes and make adjustments such as machine timing, synchronization, and parameter changes.

What you will need:

  • Possess mastery in the following disciplines: Electrical/Electrical controls, and machinery repair.
  • 10 or more years of experience in wineries, food production, or similar industry.
  • Extensive experience in refrigeration system operations and maintenance, a strong understanding of hazardous refrigerant substances, and the ability to work around them safely.
  • Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry skills preferred. 
  • Skilled in welding and fabrication.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical control areas.
  • Knowledge of industrial water systems, underground plumbing, and filtration systems.
  • Prior winery experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and all levels of management in English, both written and verbal.

Strongly Desired:

  • Excellent fabrication skills to include cutting, welding, grinding, fitting, using various processes like MIG, TIG, Stick, and Gas.  ASME Welding Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience and skilled in repair and troubleshooting of boilers and hot water/glycol systems, HVAC systems, or ammonia refrigeration equipment.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a wine or food production/manufacturing facility.
  • Understand and apply Safe Work Practices Related to Refrigeration, Boilers, Mechanical and Electrical Systems, and Utilities Work.  Examples would include: LOTO, Elevated Work, Confined Space, ARC Flash, Hot Work, Electrical Regulations (NEC), Process Safety Management (PSM), and all JFW safety policies and procedures.  Safety focused; trained in industrial safety programs.  OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification a plus.
  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Working understanding of a CMMS System.
  • Basic PLC and VFD troubleshooting experience.  Familiarity with AC and DC electrical systems to include low voltage DC control circuits to 3 phase 480-volt systems.
  • Forklift, man lift, scissors lift certified.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications. (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).

Pay Range:

$26.87 $34.01 $41.15 per hour
