WillaKenzie Estate is an ultra-premium winery located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Our recently renovated gravity-flow winery allows us to focus on the fine details while crafting small-lot luxury Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Located on our 420-acre estate, this harvest internship will provide an immersive grape to wine experience working as part of our winemaking team. We are seeking experienced, hardworking individuals who possess a strong desire to learn for our 2020 harvest team.
Under the supervision of the Associate Winemaker and Enologist, you will be working with the entire winemaking team through all phases of harvest. The position will include a wide range of responsibilities and activities from grape sampling to filling barrels. In short, you will be asked to do a little bit of everything.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work in a team environment
- Follow safe cellar practices
- Vineyard sampling
- Clean all winery equipment
- Additions and fermentation management
- Rack juice and wine
- Operate sorting equipment and presses
- Driving a forklift
- Wine and juice evaluation
- Other duties as assigned
- Procure and wear functional, yet imaginative Halloween costume (We really like Halloween)
Background and Experience
2 prior harvests or relevant cellar experience. Must possess a functional knowledge of cellar safety and practices throughout the winemaking process. Excellent forklift skills are highly valued. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable and have a good work ethic with a strong desire to learn.
This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb ladders and flights of stairs, stoop and kneel, and regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime as needed, particularly during the peak of the harvest season. Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
