Jackson Family Investments is seeking to hire a senior tax accountant.  The senior tax accountant would work closely with and report directly to the Tax Manager.  This role is based out of the Santa Rosa office and requires someone who has a tax background of corporations, pass-through entities, individuals, and estates and trusts.  Additionally, an accounting background is required.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is willing to work in a fast paced and team structured environment.   The desire is to fill this position with an individual who will work closely alongside management within the family office team as well as our outside consultants and tax advisors. The individual we are seeking should have the following skills:

 

  • Strong tax, accounting, & CPA training and experience, at least three to four years (big 4 experience preferred).  CPA license not required but preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
  • Significant tax compliance experience with partnerships, individuals, corporations & trusts.
  • Industry experience in agribusiness would be a benefit but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with related party transactions as it relates to tax.
  • An understanding of international tax as it relates to subpart-F, GILTI and E&P is beneficial.
  • The tax senior should be ready, willing, able and happy to teach and develop family office staff on tax accounting issues.
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
  • Experience with Onesource Income Tax, Checkpoint RIA and BNA fixed assets preferred
  • Good writing and research skills
  • Willingness to keep up to date on tax laws and communicate any potential impacts entity structure

 

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of trust, partnership, individual, corporation & international tax returns.
  • Involvement in tax basis accounting
  • Maintenance of all fixed asset records (including exposure to numerous 704(b)&(c) calculations)
  • Coordination and information gathering for all tax compliance, assist in managerial summaries, memos and reports
  • Preparation of all tax workpapers and tax returns
  • Assistance with quarterly estimated tax payments and tax payment processing, responsible for entire quarterly estimated tax payment process including cash flow impacts and assisting with necessary journal entries to be made in Quickbooks
  • Assist in the accounting for principal and interest payments on inter-family/trust notes, and discretionary trust distributions to beneficiaries.
  • Report directly to the Tax Manager and keep them informed on all tax matters
  • Assistance in the maintenance of all partnership capital accounts, partner distributions, tax distributions
  • Work with outside accounting firms on all recurring compliance and assist with planning projects
  • Ability to perform tax research and work through various tax technical issues
