The Internal Communications Manager plays a key role in developing and executing impactful communications that engage, inform, and connect employees. Reports to Vice President of Corporate Communications and works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders at all levels and functions of the organization. 

PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive internal communication and engagement strategies to inform and motivate employees around the company’s core values, strategic pillars, business priorities and key initiatives. 
  • Manage and leverage internal communication systems and content integration with internal and external partners. 
  • Proactively develop and implement new communication best practices and programs to generate engagement and build connection; develop opportunities for two-way communication.
  • Maintain corporate content calendar to plan and track content across employee communication channels and corporate social media accounts. 
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across departments to effectively leverage key initiatives with communication channels, including coordination of ongoing content meetings. 
  • Partner with other business functions on internal transformation projects and support efforts to communicate Jackson Family Wines’ culture and improve employee engagement.
  • Gather and contribute ongoing and content and ideation for corporate social media 
  • Develop written and visual content across employee communication channels: Intranet, Monthly News Briefs, Company Newsletter, etc. Manage language translation as needed. 
  • Write and develop messaging around various topics, including company strategy, priorities, and announcements. 
  • Draft messaging, talking points and company presentations for senior leadership and executives. 
  • Develop proactive and reactive messaging that supports key initiatives and program rollouts.
  • Develop video and creative content as needed.
  • Research internal communication trends and relevant business insights to identify opportunities that will drive meaningful results in communication, planning, and programs. 
  • Monitor and assess efficacy of internal communication efforts through employee focus groups and survey.  
  • Attend company and community events as assigned to gather content.
  • Participate in crisis communication preparedness planning and implementation. 
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
  • Support external media relations activities for corporate initiatives as needed. 


BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, including ability to communicate at all levels 
  • Ability to connect and build effective and trusting relationships with people of various backgrounds 
  • Ability to understand the unique needs of different functions (goals, process, etc.) to develop effective internal communication strategies
  • Excellent project management skills: planning, follow through and execution
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and flexibility with shifting timelines and priorities 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness 
  • Excellent listening and time-management skills 
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with strong desire to lead initiatives

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in communications or related field; experience working in corporate or internal communications role a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and proofing skills
  • Demonstrated expertise to partner with multiple stakeholders and successfully executing communication projects end-to-end
  • Experience in developing and executing proactive communication plans, managing cross-functional projects, and working effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, time management and project prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficiency in photography and video production best practices is a plus, including proficiency using Adobe software and Canva
  • Passion for wine and knowledge of wine industry a plus 
  • Embraces new technology: comfortable learning new programs easily to enhance company-wide communication
