POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking a Director of Tax to join Jackson Family Wines tax department. This position oversees tax policies, compliance, planning and requires familiarity with industry knowledge. The ideal candidate relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and will lead and direct the work of others.  A wide degree technical knowledge is expected. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of the income tax provision including all financial statement disclosures, Corporation and flow-through income tax compliance, quarterly estimates, multi-state compliance and foreign filings.
  • Providing tax expertise in the areas of acquisition, reorganizations, dispositions, consolidation, and cross border transactions.
  • Knowledge in transfer pricing, OECD, CBCR, Local File and Master File requirements.
  • Supporting the company with sound tax research, recommendations and lead any tax controversy that may arise.
  • Lead the documentation and determination of R&D related activities and tax credits.
  • Prepare technical tax memorandums and position papers
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to tax processes and controls, and comfortable leading all interactions with the company’s independent auditors
  • Lead in the analysis of all tax law changes and issues that may impact the company/enterprise
  • Retain and supervise outside tax advisors, manage the budget, and ensure highest and best use of services performed by all advisors.
  • Manage, implement, and maintain tax accounting policies.
  • Review & Implement necessary processes or procedures as needed to ensure maximum efficiencies in the tax department.
  • A robust understanding of fixed asset management for tax & GAAP, experience in Purchase Price Allocation’s and Cost Segregation analysis.
  • Oversee and lead the sales and use tax & excise tax compliance and related controversies
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: 

Corporate Tax Manager

 JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • 10yrs of experience in tax preferred, CPA required
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience preferred, including industry experience
  • BS/BA in Accounting/Business, MS in Taxation a plus
  • Strong understanding of tax laws, code section and GAAP
  • Comfortable navigating through Excel, RIA, OneSorce,
  • Advanced Excel proficiency – a high level of comfort with Macros, VLookups, Data Integrity and other advanced Excel functions
  • ERP and database experience desired, JD Edwards ERP a significant plus
  • Business Intelligence/Business Objects experience a plus
  • Excellent communication, leadership & organizational skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of cross functional teams
