Under general direction of the Facility Winemaker, this position will coordinate & review all activities of the wine cellar & quality assurance lab. Responsible for maintaining quality of bulk inventory. Will manage day-to-day functions of Carneros Hills Winery for all brands, maintain records for all internal wine movements & assist in the development of procedural & quality control manuals. Responsible for hiring, training, counseling, discipline, safety & evaluation of assigned staff.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (but not limited to)
Design & implement experimental lots, coordinate analysis to substantiate results.
Create daily work list and work orders to fulfill BATF document requirements.
Oversee daily cellar operation for Carneros Hills Winery, and Custom Clients to meet production requirements & schedules.
Oversee bottling operations at Carneros Hills Winery.
Oversee lab and develop lab personnel.
Responsible for quality control oversight of both lab & cellar functions.
Supervise daily cellar operations with Cellar Master to assure quality standards are met.
Assist in maintenance of safety program with Safety Manager.
Participate in the blending decisions for all brands made at Carneros Hills Winery.
Development of ongoing wine making procedures.
Manage the maintenance of wine maker database.
Work orders & inventory control for the facility.
Oversee hiring & training of harvest personnel.
Operation & coordination of blend trials.
Maintain chemical SDS.
Supervision of night shift as needed.
Requires BS Degree in Enology, Viticulture or related. Must have 4-6 years’ of “hands-on” wine production experience. Supervisory & winery experience is required. Must have intermediate WORD & EXCEL skills. Understanding of costing & inventory preferred. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is organized, detail oriented and able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
