Copain Wines is looking for a few interns for the upcoming 2021 harvest. Unfortunately, we are only able to hire folks who are living in the United States due to the ongoing pandemic.
At Copain, we focus on making vineyard designate wines predominantly from Anderson Valley and the Sonoma Coast. Our main varietal focus is Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah, but we also make small amounts of Picpoul Blanc, Grenache, Trousseau Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Gris. Additionally, we work with a couple of custom crush clients which provides the opportunity to work with other varietals and learn different winemaking techniques. It’s also worth mentioning that we are fortunate enough to work in a mostly open-air facility and we managed to complete harvest outbreak-free. In addition to our open-air facility, most cellar work is done independently which offers a safe and healthy work environment.
As an intern you'll have the chance to work in all aspects of production including fruit processing, pump overs, nutrient additions, racking, barrel downs, tasting, and of course, cleaning and sorting. We provide socially distanced lunches, killer views, and plenty of interaction with the wine making team. It's a tight-knit crew up here on the hilltop, and we strive to foster a culture built on a balance of hard work and good times. Harvest typically runs August-October, and you can expect to work 6 days a week, usually.
