Position Summary:  The Seasonal Viticulture/Cellar Worker is a JFW hybrid Vineyard/Winery Seasonal role to assist both winemaking and winery staff with harvest-related activities.   

A typical day would start in the vineyard; collecting grape berry and cluster samples from various vineyards for the purpose of measuring sugar (degrees brix) and delivering those samples to wine laboratories for analysis.  The 2nd half of the day would be in the cellar assisting with all aspects of grape receiving, fermentation management and harvest winery duties.  The mix of Vineyard and Winery job duties may fluctuate daily and over the course of harvest as grape deliveries progress.    The balance of work would be more vineyard early season and winery latter season.   This is an exciting cross functional role, with broad harvest exposure and experience, working collaboratively in a team environment.

Position description

Under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Seasonal Lab Analyst performs vineyard, juice, and wine analysis in a fast-paced winery dedicated to production. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Become an integral member of the harvest team by becoming proficient in the analysis performed in the lab

Seasonal Lab Analyst I

Position Summary:

The individual in this position of Seasonal Laboratory Analyst I will be an important member of the laboratory team.  This position requires attention and adherence to laboratory quality requirements, support of quality initiatives, teamwork, professionalism and demonstrated work ethic. As a seasonal position, many of the duties will be centered around harvest activities including sampling and monitoring fermentations.

Seasonal Lab Technician - Jackson Family Wines (Skylane)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a Harvest position at the Skylane Cellars laboratory.  The individual in this position will be responsible for performing routine wine chemistry analyses in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with good lab practice.  Candidates for this position should have knowledge of chemistry, winery terminology, and wine production. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Seasonal Maintenance Technician -Napa Wineries

Seasonal Maintenance Technician - Napa

This position, as part of the maintenance team, will work in support of harvest activities at Kendall-Jackson Winery in Oakville, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Troubleshoot and timely repairs of cellar, crush and facilities equipment.
  • Perform periodic, preventive and predictive maintenance on all cellar, crush and facility equipment.
  • Assist in the repair of all cellar and facilities equipment including fabrication of parts and installation of replacement parts.
  • Work as part of a maintenance team in various tasks as assigned, or independently, at times, as the sole technicians.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Lab Supervisor, the harvest lab intern will perform routine wine and juice analysis on both fermenting and finished wines, take daily brix and temp samples, report data in online databases and participate in general lab housekeeping. This position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately and in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with winemaking and cellar teams as well as a variety of brands such as Cardinale, Freemark Abbey, Lokoya, La Jota, Mount Brave, Bootleg, Arrowood as well as custom crush clients.
