Under the general direction of the Cellarmaster, the seasonal winery workers are responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:

General Winery Worker

Position description

Under the general direction of the Cellarmaster, the General Cellar Worker performs a variety of indoor and outdoor tasks such as sanitizing tanks and other equipment, operating crush and press equipment, stacking barrels, operating a forklift, filling barrels and topping wine. We are looking for an individual to join our growing team in crafting quality wines.

Estate Host - Cardinale

Estate Hosts are experienced, world class wine sales professional possessing the ability to represent luxury products while working in a high energy team sales environment.  They demonstrate confidence in their ability to softly sell ultra premium wine while maintaining Luxury Brand image standards.   Requires an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to be an effective self-starter.  Position is responsible for developing new clientele at the Estate and maintaining these relationships in person on property, via phone and email outreach and through regular travel to our top Direct to Consumer (DTC) markets which span the entire United States.

This team operates in a very fast paced environment.  The ability to gracefully multitask is a must have skill.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Seasonal Maintenance Technician -Napa Wineries

Seasonal Maintenance Technician - Napa

This position, as part of the maintenance team, will work in support of harvest activities at Kendall-Jackson Winery in Oakville, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Troubleshoot and timely repairs of cellar, crush and facilities equipment.
  • Perform periodic, preventive and predictive maintenance on all cellar, crush and facility equipment.
  • Assist in the repair of all cellar and facilities equipment including fabrication of parts and installation of replacement parts.
  • Work as part of a maintenance team in various tasks as assigned, or independently, at times, as the sole technicians.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Lab Supervisor, the harvest lab intern will perform routine wine and juice analysis on both fermenting and finished wines, take daily brix and temp samples, report data in online databases and participate in general lab housekeeping. This position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately and in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with winemaking and cellar teams as well as a variety of brands such as Cardinale, Freemark Abbey, Lokoya, La Jota, Mount Brave, Bootleg, Arrowood as well as custom crush clients.

Company overview:

We are a winery that is part of Jackson Family wines; a family-owned company with wineries in California, Oregon, Australia, France, Italy and other regions of the world. Brands produced at our Oakville facility include Freemark Abbey, Bootleg, Arrowood and some premium custom crush clients.

We produce primarily high-quality red Bordeaux varieties, along with Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier and Syrah.  Our average crush is 3-4,000 tons and we have approx. 15,000 barrels of capacity in our barrel cellar.

Role and responsibilities:

This is a hands-on cellar internship role and reports to the cellar master.  We operate an indoor and outdoor facility with full grape to bottling production.  Interns work in all the following areas:

International Seasonal Intern

Job Roles / Responsibilities

Working in an indoor / outdoor facility and reporting to directions given by the Cellar Master and Forepersons, the successful applicant will have opportunities to learn the following:


Following and observing all safe cellar practices
Red fermentation management – pump overs, rack & returns.
Additions – yeast, acid, nutrients, SO2 including calculations.
The use of all cellar equipment (and most importantly) it’s cleaning & sanitizing.
Barrel work – filling, racking and topping.
Racking, transferring and the movement of juice and wine.

Assist the pressing team.



Requirements

Previous harvest experience is preferred but not 100% necessary and a degree in winemaking/enology is favorable.
Effective communication skills in English.
The ability to work long hours through the busy harvest time.
The successful applicant must provide their own transportation while some assistance will be provided to help find housing..
