We are seeking a motivated and high-achieving Marketing Director candidate to join the dynamic international marketing team at Jackson Family Wines.  The Marketing Director position is an important leadership role that partners with Brand Leadership to develop and execute the business and marketing strategies for a collection of wineries.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Leads development of brand positioning, growth strategy and marketing plans/programs for assigned brands.
  • Leads brand team in positioning, pricing, promotion and product mix strategies for assigned brands.
  • Manages the effectiveness of the brand team by maintaining a high level of motivation, setting clear goals and milestones and assisting with the prioritization of key initiatives.
  • Leads development of brand plans to include detailed strategic objectives, programs and propositions for the brands that optimize brand positioning and result in vigorous volume growth and increased profitability.
  • Defines key channel growth opportunities and develops plans that maximize brand opportunities accordingly. Develops in-market responses to competitive activity and launches. Analyzes and develops plans against new and important consumer target opportunities.   Effectively oversees brand budgets, managing expenditures and expenditures appropriately.
  • Develops and manages frequent presentations to sales, senior management, and ownership to secure approval for large and small initiatives.
  • Partners with sales to anticipate and analyze market trends and deliver against key opportunities.
  • Manages staff, ensuring direct reports are coached, mentored and developed. Sets high performance expectations.
  • Maintains positive, constructive relationships and communications with internal team members and outside agency partners.
  • Global trend analysis, prediction, and ability to recommend changes in courses of action.
  • Supply chain management, demand planning, global forecasting.


Background Required:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, finance or related; MBA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of marketing experience, wine industry experience strongly desired with demonstrated success across multiple price segments;
  • Luxury, international wine marketing experience preferred
  • 5+ years of direct P&L management and responsibility
  • 5+ years of managing and developing direct reports
  • Strong and consistent track record of successful brand growth across multiple brands or business units
  • Entrepreneurial in thinking with strong sense of urgency;  works well in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and execute marketing programs;
  • Demonstrated analytical skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Demonstrated people management experience; ability to develop and lead a team of marketing professionals
  • Strong track record of managing multiple, diverse brands
  • Extensive employee management and team building experience
  • Multi-brand P&L management experience
  • Track record of creative program development and execution
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Advanced understanding of various pricing strategies across multiple markets and channels
  • Advanced presentation development and delivery experience
  • Strong writing and editing
  • Social media understanding (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of wine production & appreciation
  • Strong understanding of product engineering (COGS, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of the 3-tiered distribution system and international wine markets
  • Advanced program understanding (Excel, PowerPoint, word, etc.)
