Carneros Hills Winery is located in the picturesque Carneros region of Sonoma Valley in sunny California. We have a recently renovated mid-sized winery specializing in the production of premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but also utilizing our small batch equipment for the production of specialized small lots of Bordeaux varieties.

The harvest lab technician will be expected to work closely with the Lab Manager and Winemaker to perform daily sample preparations and chemical analyses of must, fermenting wines, and finished wines. Harvest lab technicians will work within established operating procedures to obtain samples, perform chemical analyses and solution and reagent preparation in order to achieve optimum analytical quality standards. Key responsibilities may include the following, but not limited to:
- Sampling grapes, juices, fermenting musts and wines for analysis
- Perform pH, TA, Brix, on grape, juice and must samples
• Perform all routine wine chemistry analyses
• Perform enzymatic analysis using a spectrophotometer
- Reagent preparation (acids, bases, buffers, reference standards)
- Responsible for performing routine equipment maintenance
- Understanding hazardous material and safety procedures
The qualified candidate will have a have a strong science background with some familiarity in enology, microbiology, chemistry, and/or biochemistry is preferred. The ability to work in a team environment is essential; to work harmoniously with co-workers and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s value of exhibiting the highest quality standards in all endeavors. Ability to work various shifts including weekends and overtime. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret cellar work orders and work lists, attention to safety regulations and procedures is required. The ability to lift 50 pounds on an occasional basis, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and be comfortable with heights are all necessary.
