Position Summary:


The Procurement Manager Direct Materials has procurement responsibility for Jackson Family Wines Direct Materials spend categories.  Major spend categories include glass, cork, labels, capsules, and corrugated shippers.  This person is expected analyze spend areas and prioritize sourcing activities toward the highest value opportunities.  They are expected to deliver significant profit growth and added value to the business through improved Procurement practices.



Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):


  • Develop procurement strategies for direct materials categories consisting of up to $40 million in annual spend
  • Manage a team of 2 direct reports
  • Negotiate complex, high-dollar value contracts and implementation strategies
  • Analyze company spend to target opportunities for consolidated acquisitions and other cost savings initiatives
  • Responsible for making sure that supplier management processes are in place for all key suppliers
  • Responsible for driving increased value from supplier relationships within category
  • Lead cross-functional project teams
  • Prioritizes and deploys resources against highest value opportunities
  • Conduct Requests for Information (RFI’s) and Request for Proposals (RFP’s) as needed
  • Develop processes to ensure that the performance of key vendors is meeting contractual requirements
  • Perform cost/risk analysis of key vendors on an ongoing basis
  • Contribute to the cost savings objectives of the department




  • Minimum 5+ years Procurement/Supply Chain Management experience
  • Proven track record of consistent performance and delivery
  • Strong analytical and inter-personal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus
  • Strong ability to prioritize and focus on delivering business goals
  • Good understanding of the procurement category management process
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing and successful negotiation
  • Proven ability to build effective Supplier relationships
  • Good influencing skills and personal impact to gain credibility quickly with senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen, understanding of the business, and judgment
  • Objectively challenges established practice to stimulate alternative thinking
  • Demonstrates confidence when presenting to senior business leaders
  • Experience of leading/participating in cross-functional change projects
